Choir Practice

Urgh. I knew the 9pm-12am, 12am-4am, 4-6am sleep routine couldn't last forever. Pu has decided, lately, its much more fun to try practicing g's, oo's and this nice growly sound she does in her throat at, oh, 4 in the morning. Yipee. 4 a.m. to 5 a.m. is choir practice, which not even a pacifier can stop... its seems, however, there may be hope in sight - last night she skipped choir practice. *sigh*.

As for me, I've set the blog to central time... (maybe even correctly). . . i raised my eyebrow with a, "hmm....." when i noticed that, hey, i was at work when that entry was posted.

Don't know about many working mums out there, but I was *so* happy to return to work... love doing what i do, love the break from the kiddo. Several more weeks on the job, then have to stop for *the move*. Back to mum full time, at least for awhile.... Pu and I get to explore a new town. ooops. city.

As for Pu's Dad - AWESOME! Turning his paper in to his advisors, and with all the figures, tables and glitter added to it, is 270 (and change) pages! ! ! ! !. And he didn't even fudge the margins. Currently, he's hunting down signatures for approval and such. One form even has to be printed out (for graduation) on *pink* paper. University pink... I suggested our stash of 80's neon colored paper, and Pu-Dad said, nope, has to be the university's pink color. Hey, if they are going to go with color, they should be more adventurous..... maybe leopard print paper? oh well. University rules.

She has graduated from her 0-3 month clothes and is in her 3-6 month outfits . . . yipeee.. new clothes for the Pu!

Ha ha ha ho ho ho hee hee heee

Laugher. Real laughter.... Today, Mum was at work, Dad was with the kiddo. We're used to pterodactyl and little giggly quasi-laughter sounds coming from the Pu. Today, however, she let out an official "ha-ha-ha". Yep, three ha's sung Dad dancing and bopping around. Mum, at work, missed it.

For a side note, Dad was probably dancing out of excitement because he finished the last couple words of his 150+ pages of his doctoral thesis today. Ready for the advisor to read. Anyone interested in a copy? We'll be celebrating with zinc lozenges, as it seems he's getting a cold. Hopefully he won't contaminate the Pu and me.

June 8, 2005 - reflections and then some. . . .

Funny thought from this week at work, "Do Vegans breastfeed?" hmmm.... Moo.

Night time is still best Pu-sleep time. About 10 minutes (on a good night) after being plunked in bed and she is fast asleep. "Pu-Down" (when she's asleep) is usually achieved by 8:30 - and she stays down till about 12:30 or 1a.m. That means Mom gets a nice 2-3 hour sleep block (hey, it would be more, but can I really go to bed at 9pm?!?!?!?). Then, its pretty good sleep till 4 a.m. (yipeee - another 3 1/2 hours or so... hey, feeding takes awhile sometimes!)... Final meal is either from Mom, or, when I'm in a rush to go to work, Dad via bottle. Yipee for Dads, bottles, and pumps.

Sad time comes when she sleep thru the night... gotta replace her with the husband... Hmm... both hog the bed. . . . Being intrinsically lazy (and a bad speller) - I'm all for sleeping with babies. Prior to having a Pu, i thought - ack! i'd roll over on her and smother her. Nope. Its amazing how lightly you can sleep (plus, first 2 or 3 weeks, she slept on me to stay warm) or still you can sleep if you have to. When the Pu had her 3-month old birthday, I finally felt comfortable enough to roll on my other side away from her.

Now a days, she takes up my old side, and I'm left with a sliver of my husband's side of the bed - she sleeps with arms flailed out at her sides. Orangatang-Pu. I definately am glad i made the choice to sleep with her! (who wants to get up out of bed every 2 hours to feed a new born?!?!?! hey, i'm lazy and admit it...)

Definately am glad we sleep together... the instant she fusses, i'm there to feed her and console her, and she gets to learn her needs are met quickly at a very young age. Plus - the best - she eats, and we both roll back to bed. No major interuptions.

And the best? At 2 a.m., she's there to wake me up to show me all the new sounds she can make. Lately, she's learned she has volume as well as sounds. Yipeee. Wouldn't have missed all these past months for the world - its wonderful sleeping with her.

June 7, 2005

Ta da! Our very own blog site emerged from nothingness and splashed into an electronic sea of other blogs.

What is new? This week, the Pu has learned how to grab socks off her feet. Very exciting, to say the least. Nothing like screaming in excitement, having your mother rush in, only to waive around a sock like a prized trophy with a smirk on your face. Talent... pictures to come soon (please remember "soon" is relavent term!))
